STG Health and Wellness is proud to announce that we are certified with Level 1 and Level 3 Vodder therapy training. Allowing us to treat and manage your Lymphedema symptoms.
The Therapist Training Program offers health-care practitioners the best available education in the original Dr. Vodder method of Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) and Combined Decongestive Therapy (CDT.) The course is only open to licensed or certified health care practitioners who have graduated from a practitioner training program.
At STG, we have received certification for Level 1 Basic and Level 3 Lymphedema. Here is a brief description on what we learned to gain our certification that allows us to help our patients with even more treatments.
Level 1 Basic is the foundation course divided into two parts: online theory and a practical in-class component.
Level 1 Theory is an online and prepared by physicians from the Dr. Vodder Academy. This is the first component that all students entering the program complete; which requires reading, studying, and an exam. This takes up to 45 hours to complete. Once the exam is successfully completed, students then continue on to the Level 1 practical course.
Level 1 Practical is a classroom course over an intense four days that covers the original Dr. Vodder Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) strokes and how they are applied to each body part, including face, arms, neck, legs, back, nape, chest, abdomen and buttocks.
Level 3 Lymphedema. This classroom course takes place over the course of nine days and is just like Level 1, it is divided into theory and practical components. This course is designed for those who have completed Level 1 or Level 2 and are interested in edema and lymphedema management.
The Level 3 Lymphedema Theory component is taught in class over two days by either a PhD-level lymphologist or a medical doctor. It covers the pathophysiological background of edemas, as well as lipedema and lymphedema. Different diagnosis, contraindications and indications of edema are also explained followed by an exam.
The Level 3 Lymphedema Practical component is taught over seven days in a classroom. This covers the correct application of CDT including MLD, compression therapy with garments and bandages, skin care and edema exercises. Applications covered in this course include chronic venous insufficiency edema, head and neck edema, upper and lower extremity lymphedema and lipedema. The nine-day course finishes with a practical exam. Once both the practical and theory exams are completed, certification is awarded in Lymphedema management from the Dr. Vodder Academy.
